30 Years Experience in Fast, Effective, and Gentle Relief of Auto Injuries for Bastrop County

You were in a car accident. Your neck has been bothering you for days, your back feels stiff every morning, and you’re starting to wonder whether you should see a local chiropractor.

But there’s one thing holding you back: you don’t have health insurance.

It’s an uncomfortable position to be in, especially when you’re already dealing with car repairs, missed work, and the uncertainty that follows an accident.

At Double Diamond Chiropractic, Dr. Wendee Whitehead has spent more than 30 years helping patients throughout Bastrop County recover from accident-related injuries. We understand that concerns about treatment costs can sometimes prevent people from getting evaluated when they need it.

The good news is that health insurance isn’t necessarily your only option for paying for chiropractic care after an accident. Depending on your circumstances, there may be several ways to manage the cost of treatment.

What Does Chiropractic Care Cost Without Insurance?

The cost of seeing a Texas chiropractor without insurance depends on the type of care you need, the complexity of your injuries, and how many appointments are medically necessary.

For general chiropractic care, an initial examination may cost approximately $80 to $200, while follow-up visits often range from $50 to $100.

These are broad estimates, not Double Diamond Chiropractic’s specific rates. Personal injury evaluations, additional testing, and rehabilitation services may increase the cost.

But here’s something worth understanding: treating an injury after a car accident isn’t necessarily the same as scheduling a routine chiropractic adjustment.

When someone comes to our office following a collision, Dr. Whitehead looks at more than where they’re experiencing pain. She evaluates how the accident may have affected their movement, posture, range of motion, and ability to perform everyday activities.

Someone dealing with mild stiffness may have very different treatment needs than someone experiencing persistent headaches, back pain, or difficulty turning their head while driving.

That’s why the total cost of care can vary considerably from one patient to another.

What If You Can’t Afford to Pay for Treatment Upfront?

Not having insurance doesn’t automatically mean you have to pay for every medical expense entirely out of pocket.

Depending on your circumstances, you may have access to coverage through your auto insurance policy, a personal injury claim, or a payment arrangement with your healthcare provider.

For example, Texas auto insurance policies may include Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or Medical Payments coverage. These benefits can help pay eligible medical expenses after an accident, subject to the coverage and limits of your policy.

If another driver caused the accident, their liability insurance may also become part of the process. However, these claims can take time to resolve, and payment isn’t always immediate.

The important thing is to understand what coverage you have before assuming you’re responsible for the entire cost.

Can You See a Chiropractor If You Have Hired a Personal Injury Attorney?

If you’re working with a personal injury attorney, there may be additional options for arranging chiropractic care.

Some healthcare providers work with attorneys through agreements that allow eligible patients to receive treatment while their personal injury case is pending.

One arrangement you may hear about is a Letter of Protection, or LOP.

Essentially, a Letter of Protection is an agreement addressing how medical bills will be paid from a potential personal injury settlement or recovery. Rather than requiring full payment at each visit, the healthcare provider may agree to wait for payment under the terms of the arrangement.

However, this doesn’t mean treatment is free. Patients may still be responsible for their medical bills, including when a claim doesn’t result in a settlement.

Not every chiropractor offers this arrangement, and the terms vary. If you already have an attorney, it’s worth discussing whether this type of billing arrangement may be available to you.

Your Recovery Matters, With or Without Insurance

A car accident can disrupt your life in ways you never expected. Even a relatively minor collision can leave you dealing with discomfort, interrupted sleep, and activities that suddenly feel more difficult.

Adding financial uncertainty to the situation only makes it more stressful.

If you’re uninsured, take the time to understand your options rather than assuming chiropractic care is financially out of reach. Whether you’re paying out of pocket, using available auto insurance benefits, or working with a personal injury attorney, knowing what to expect can help you make more confident decisions about your health.
